Trash talking war breaks out on WFAN, I get sucked in
Yes, I heard Mike Francesa rip Craig Carton this afternoon.
Yes, I will write something about it in the Friday newspaper.
Yes, I will feel bad about myself for doing so.
No, I am not doing a transcript of this one.
I will share this, I guess: "If I want to take care of him, I could do it in five minutes,’’ Francesa said. “It wouldn’t even take me five minutes. He can't kiss up enough when he's around here. If he wants a war, bring it on. It won’t be a long one.’’
Yikes. I'm afraid I'm partly responsible for this.
Mike said on the air, "The only reason I brought this up today is I’ve had newspaper people call me and ask me to react to this utter nonsense."
I did ask Mike Wednesday whether he is bothered by some recent tweaks from the morning guys, only because readers have asked me about it. I didn't get much out of him, frankly. He was much more entertaining ripping Boomer and Carton on the air.

Hate to say it folks ... but Francesa will do to Carton what Lupica did to Lisa Olson ... destroy and move on.

I get this really warm feeling that Mike's show is sinking fast with this kind of nonsense. Also, his opening the other day where he commented that he'd open the phones and you could call with whatever you wanted to - sounds a lot like a big satellite national show than it does a NYC local show, doesn't it?
***Today on Mike Francesa, special guest stars, a fight, diet soda, and more self promotion than I can handle. Jerry Springer is less transparent. Maybe Mike can hit Carton in the nose with his chair.

Yeah Mike will destroy Carton so badly that when he came back from break after saying that, he said it was all a joke. He said none of it is serious, and he was just promoting their show. RIGHT
Accusing somebody of belittling his coworkers is a joke. Saying that their show wouldn't even be around if not for his show is just a friendly way of promoting their show. Come on Mike; at least be honest with us. We all heard what you said.

Whether or not Carton is good on the air does not matter. He has no right to make fun of Mike or take shots at the guy who has been NUMBER 1 for 20 years and is CARRYING FAN on his back all by himself. Carton should show some respect to Mike and stop trying to pick fights with him. Carton isnt even on Mike's level.....not even close. The morning guys may be entertaining but all of us TRUE sports fans know that they are not REAL SPORTS FANS. They play jeopardy for cryin out loud!!! what the hell is that????
