Marcia Brady did cocaine, dated Michael Jackson
I'm struggling with the matter of the new Maureen McCormick tell-all, described in this disturbing article.
Do I actually read the book, with its tales of cocaine abuse, parties at the Playboy mansion and trading sex for drugs, thus shredding the happy, innocent memories of my first TV crush?
Or do I not? I welcome input from fellow late-fortysomethings on this one. Tough call.

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia......
Pass the mirror and assume the position, please.
I look at her old pictures from back then and wonder what the hell was wrong with me? She wasn't all that hot, original Jan grew up to be hotter.
Meh. I was always a Jan man.
I figure she got these traits from all those clubs she signed up for when she got to 9th grade and wanted to be popular in high school. Judo club (Hi-YA!). Fencing club (En-GARDE!). Coke club (Ah-CHOO!) Sex club (Oh-YES!).
Me? I was in band. (JUST band.)
Here's another vote for Jan. Marcia may have had more experience, but Jan represented real change...change I could believe in!
Neil - the Silver platters sang it best - (break out your groovy Johnny Bravo suit now)
"When it's time to change (when it's time to change),
Don't fight the tide, go along for the ride,
Don't ya see.
Sha na na na na na na nahhh Sha na na na nah!"
Neil - time to change that opinion of Marcia and move on - even Alice got over Sam.
mstone: Never!
Forget the book and get the Deluxe Set of DVD's which include every episode. Buy a case of bon-bons and enjoy a Brady Bunch marathon. While watching, note that not once, not in any of the episodes, does Marcia ingest cocaine, nor will she engage in any sexual activities (except in your head). She'll remain as pure as the driven snow.

I don't understand this apparent surge in support for Jan among the late 40 something male demographic.
Who among those late 40 somethings were completely innocent of comparable activities....or at least longed for an opportunity to engage in them?
As an early 50 something, I ask this question......
Would you rather spend a 3 day weekend with Marcia at the Playboy mansion?
Or a 3 day weekend with Jan trying to discern the esoteric meaning behind her art work?
Uh-huh....I thought so.
Hypocrisy is rearing it's ugly head once again in the comments section of this blog.
Just another excerpt from the Audacity of Dope.
Even though I'm a Ginger man, I can understand the appeal of Mary Ann. But this stuff about Jan over Marcia is just insane!
marcia looks good now. i dont see the big deal. she was in the 70s on tv getting high and sexing. who wasnt doing that in the 70s? especially if you were on a popular tv show.
Why is everyone so concerned about Marcia? The hero is Wally who is still at his salesman's job selling toys all these years...he is still "just being Wally"!!!
