Chris Carlin, Kim Jones sit in with Mike Francesa today
Should be an interesting three days on WFAN, with the tag team of Chris Carlin and Kim Jones joining the big guy.
If it clicks, they could quickly become a realistic option for Mike Francesa's post-Russo supporting cast.
If it doesn't, it will be time for me to throw my hat in the ring. How about Mike, me and Glauber?
Here's a weird thing about this Francesa/Carlin/Jones thing: If Mike likes what he hears, they could all soon be working together on WFAN.
If he doesn't, and if WFAN moves the Francesa simulcast to MSG next year, then at 6 p.m. come the spring of 2009, Francesa will be on MSG doing his thing, Carlin on SNY doing "Loudmouths" and Jones on YES doing "Yankees Batting Practice."
It's a complicated, inbred New York sports media world we live in, ain't it?

If Francesa's show does move to MSG, any chance YES would try to snag the simulcast of Michael Kay's show to fill some air time. I know Kay is on ESPN Radio, which would probably cause some complications, but I'm just curious.
why is the same old voices and personalities being re-cycled,maybe once that incompetent radio ex chernnof can think outside the box for something new.
I don't think Kay doing YES is complicated. Complicated was during Yankee matinees hearing him sign-off to regular-scheduled programming, The Mike & The Mad Dog Show. Maybe Kay does more Live spots from Yankee Stadium and not high atop Madison Square Garden aka the signal from hell.
I know the WFAN People read this so read carefully. How about they seek and get permission for Mr. Imus and Mccord to come guest-host the sports show with Mike for one afternoon. Would be incredible radio listening experience. And would be hilarious and touching reunion. Thoughts?

Carlin and Jones were quite good with the Sports Pope

Pope's gotta cut down on the Carlin/Rutgers bashing though,
it makes him look like an immature 12 year-old.
Evan Roberts was quite good with Pope the day after
the Mets were eliminated. That kid has a huge future.
Sidekicks will speak when spoken to, just like the mongoloid callers, and web blog posters.
Now folks, Carlin and Kim were pretty good at sitting there and listening to me. I can't wait to put Beningo in his place Friday. He likes to say 'oh the pain', he's gonna mean it on Friday.

I watched part of it on YES today and KIm Jones looked like a deer in the headlights, Carlin fared a bit better. Just stand up to him is all, they dont fight back at all
As a listener of WFAN since it's inception, the Mike and the MaDog show was second to none. It was about sports and movies and other tidbits and it all blended together. It's a tough act to follow. However, after listening to Mike F, Kim Jones and Chris C the past 3 days I believe a show including these 3 would be just as strong...and maybe even more entertaining. All 3 are extremely bright, personable and knowlegeable. Chris and Kim already had good chemistry, but surprisingly they even work better together with Mike. I thought a threesome would be too much...but not with this group..Chernoff should put them together immediately and I guarantee a hit. Kim Jones is terrific and having a womens voice on the show would put the Fan through the roof!!!

Who says Kim Jones is a deer in the headlights. She's fantastic and has a good connection with both Mike and Chris..sound familiar? Are you kidding me ..Put her on the Fan!!!!!!!!!!!
