Chris Berman to chat with John McCain, Barack Obama
Chris Berman will interview John McCain and Barack Obama (via satellite, on tape) at halftime of the Steelers-Skins tilt Monday.
OK, it's a little weird. But, politics aside, let's cut ESPN some slack here.
The Bristol Stompers have eliminated booth guests such as Christian Slater during the action, so the least we can do to show our gratitude is sit through Boomer talking to whichever guy is our future President and the guy who will lose to him. Can't we?
Berman talking to Libertarian Party VP candidate Wayne Root would have been more entertaining and more topical to football, but you can't have everything.
Speaking of Root, did I hear an ad for his sports handicapping service on WFAN today? Oy. That's not good.

I am sure that Chris is going to come up with some questions that turn the election...
"Speaking of Root, did I hear an ad for his sports handicapping service on WFAN today? Oy. That's not good."
Worse is hearing Carton hawking ad time...never a good sign.

Sure, ESPN got rid of the MNF guests, but I wish they'd ax Tony and Tirico too. I have to listen to the radio for audio it's so bad.
Tony's analysis insults the viewer while Tirico should let the game breathe a little. I'm tuning in to watch the game, not be hammered by every side-story known to man. Tirico should watch some old games with Summerall doing the call to get some pointers.
No problem here with the Swami interviewing the candidates.
"Speaking of Root, did I hear an ad for his sports handicapping service on WFAN today? Oy. That's not good."
WHY is that "not good"?
Only Berman with his mumbling and stumbling improvisational skills can make Sarah Palin look scholarly.
I-505: Many believe these sports handicappers are a sleazy sub-genre of advertising. Mr. Root e-mailed me directly this morning, by the way. Weird.
Well then Mr. Ivy-educated, Jon Stewart-watching, dark chocolate-eating, dark beer-drinking, Frank Rich-reading, elitist, Northeast Socialist egghead", who considers "sports handicappers.. a sleazy sub-genre of advertising", what do you consider Governor David Patterson, who's state government operates the 1st or 2nd (Californina? Illinois?) largest NUMBERS GAME in the country?
A lottery which spends 10 of millions of dollars promoting a gambling operation which is targeted specifically towards the lower economic classes?
Gawd help me, but why is the stench of narrow minded hypocrisy always so overwhelming in the morning?
