WFAN goes from 'Mike and the Mad Dog' to 'Mike'd Up'
Mike Francesa's new afternoon show on WFAN doesn't yet have a supporting cast, but it does have a name.
When the show relaunches in the next week or so, it will be called "Mike'd Up," same as Francesa's Sunday night TV show on Ch. 4, a person familiar with the station's plans said.
The radio version will have the subtitle "Francesa on the FAN," which has been the temporary name for the show.
WFAN needed permission from WNBC to use "Mike'd Up," and secured it.
It is not clear when the new name, jingle(s) and cast officially will be announced. Francesa initially targeted Sept. 5, but next week appears more likely.
Several people familiar with the process said Bob Heussler is the favored candidate for the update role, but the search for a No. 2 man (or woman) is ongoing.
(UPDATE: Oh, heck. Francesa just announced on the air the new name is "Mike'd Up." Well, at least I had a scoop for 20 minutes. That's a lot in the Internet era, right? I guess I should have posted this news this morning. Sigh.)

Neil- catch the modified "Mike and The Mad Dog" jingle. They need to change that. Let's let that tune go to the archives
Say it with me:
LAME!!!!!!
I'll give it the same attention I gave the tv series of the same name or his old show. Hardly no bother. I can't say I will never listen to it but I would try hard to fine music over it. Won't be hard. To be fair I won't listen to Maddog either so I won't pick favorates. But either one of them are better then listening to Michelle Kay cry this fall over his Crankees choking. At least Mike will talk about football he bury the Yankees long ago.. But like all Crankee fans when they win again he jumps back on the band wagon.
you can call it the Hindenburg returns
Neil - Do you realize your job is to report on reporters? Media of the...media? Boy are you insignificant. By the way, show some stones and put this up on the comments. Maybe i'll have an ounce of respect for you. Keep up the bad work, Neil. - Timmy P.S. Go Giants!
Tim: I am well aware of the ridiculousness of my job and have referred to it many times on the blog.
Neil,
At least you're getting paid to do this. Timmy does it for free. And thats just sad.
neil, will fooch be on with mike when he hits msg?
Hurry up and get off the computer, Timmy. Your Mom should be home from work soon.
When Russo crashes and burns on Sirius, he will come back crawling to ...ESPN Radio.
Buried the Yankees long ago??? His last show before today and before Bar A he was challenging Yankee haters to declare that the Yankees are done. He finally had to suck it up and admit it today. Francesca is a big blowhard and this show is going to die a horrible death before too long if they don't get him a partner. And no one will miss him.
All the haters should just zip it. Mike is an institution in the city, and its a shame that Mike and the Dawgy split. The country lost the best sports talkshow on radio. I wish The Dawg all the best and will listen when I can on the satellite, but I will download Mike's podcasts every day and listen to those as well. If I was still in NY I would be all over both live. If you didnt pay attention to them, you're a moron. And now, nothing has changed.
mike has a podcast? on the internets? where?
