Matt Lauer excelled for NBC on Sept. 11, 2001
I did not see any live TV news on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, because I was in the Denver airport as it gradually shut down the morning after the Giants-Broncos opener.
So it was fascinating for me finally to watch NBC's coverage, replayed this morning on MSNBC.
Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric performed well under impossible circumstances, but Matt Lauer was extraordinary, repeatedly steering his fellow anchors and network correspondents from dry reporting of developments to the most immediate reality clearly unfolding: a massive loss of life.
Obviously rescue workers, government officials and others are more important than news anchors in times such as that, but even in this fractured media age, national TV journalists still play a vital role in keeping the nation relatively calm and informed.

After watching his final comment last night, I will keep this simple and say that he is becoming REALLY SCARY.
I will show him the respect due him as well as the readers here and not mention who he reminded me of last night, but, that guy has got to get a grip.
