Watchdog

Recently, Matt Cerrone of MetsBlog.com offered a classic post about an encounter with Giuseppe Franco outside the hair product pitchman's Beverly Hills salon.

Now Cerrone has outdone himself: a sitdown interview with Franco . . . at Shea Stadium! Yup, Giuseppe is a Jersey guy and a Mets fan.

Here it is.

(P.S. The guy seen after Franco in the ad clip is Charlie McCarthy, who covered St. John's for the Post when I did for Newsday in the early 1990s. He's one of the all-time great guys in New York sportswriting, but I never have figured out how he ended up in those ubiquitous Procede ads. Charlie, are you out there? E-mail me!)
