Jay Mariotti no longer will trouble newspaper readers
At last, some good news for the ailing newspaper industry:
Jay Mariotti has left it!
(UPDATE: Here is a highly amusing statement from the Sun-Times regarding Jay's departure.)
(ANOTHER UPDATE: Roger Ebert is displeased with Jay.

What do you have against him? Please be specific. Thanks.
If you have to ask that question...oh my.
The most miserable hack in Journalism.
Good riddance.
I do not read Marriotti but I too wonder why Neil feels that is good for the newspaper business
Neil????
Good riddence to bad rubbish
Even yellow journalists are embarrassed by Mariotti. Anything you see of him on ESPN isn't an act, he's truly a despicable disgusting worm. And in his resignation, he buried the journalism business (everyone in China worked for a website, it's the future). Uh no and no.
Mariotti is as much of an angry jerk as Wallace Matthews, but never spoke to anyone, never went to a locker room, and always hid when he'd be called out.
Stunning he lasted as long as he did.
I just wanted Neil's reasoning. I thought he was a classless jerk when he was on 620 A.M. here. I routinely got into fights with him. He only understood his point and hated callers. But I wanted to hear why Neil didn't like him.
Is there any chance that Mariotti will now leave television and take Skip Bayless and Woody Paige with him?
Richie G.: Your question is fair. I was not a fan of his approach in general, but his comments on the way out the door dissing the industry did not sit well with me.
Thanks Neil. I thought he had no class when I heard him on radio. And he proves my theory correct when I watch him on ESPN. However he has talent or I wouldn't be listening/watching him.
You think you watch him because he has talent. I think you watch him because you have absolutely nothing better to do.
