Switch pitcher and switch hitter do an unusual dance

bowling.jpgHere is SNY's video of that weird situation in which an ambidextrous pitcher for the Staten Island Yankees causes a switch hitter from the Brooklyn Cyclones to play an amusing game of musical batter's boxes with him.

(Bonus WatchDog kudos to the first reader to identify the guy in the picture. Say something funny, because I don't have a winner for the Friday comment contest yet.)

You think with my eyes I can even guess who that is in a picture that small? Closest I can come is Cesar Romero in Joker makeup, but that makes no sense.

I wonder if Lee Mazzilli had anything to say about the ambidexterity; he never did it in the bigs, but I remember when the Mets signed him, they made a big deal about him being able to switch-throw.

As for bringing the funny, all I can add is that the clip reminded me of Steven Wright's old joke about putting a humidifier and a dehumidifier in the same room and watching them fight it out.

Nice effort, Ray.

But even with a picture that small, it's a very answerable question.

I tried to cheat to get the identity of the person in your picture and was amazed to discover that WatchDog came up second when I googled "bowling.jpg ambidextrous". Google obviously has a direct connection established to the Dawg. Impressive.

Andy Varippa.

Thank you, Poppy. You win.

Could've made it a little more challenging had you not named the picture as varipapa.jpg.

Just saying.
