Neil - as someone who ran a horse in the 1980 Belmont I congratulate you on mentioning the horses of that era. Affirmed, Alydar, Seattle Slew, Secretariat were not only great racing animals, but their owners - Patrice and Lou Wolfson, The Taylors, Penny Tweedy etc. were fine horsemen and woman. Nothing like what racing has turned into today where the dollar is more important than the racing. A shame.
Didn't Alydar die under mysterious circumstances with Calumet Farms in financial trouble at the time?
