Barry Melrose still working for ESPN, not Lightning
On the late SportsCenter Tuesday, Barry Melrose's report from the Stanley Cup Finals was followed by the news John Tortorella had been fired by the Tampa Bay Lightning, but no mention was made of Melrose reportedly being a strong candidate for the job. That was a little strange.
But not as strange as Robert Flores' sign-off the night before, when he said to John Anderson, "The bloggers very excited about our work." I have mentioned the work of both anchors in my blog - as well as that of Stan Verrett - and I recently had a brief e-mail exchange with Mr. Flores.
So I thought maybe he was talking about moi, which would be a great - if bizarre - honor. I asked, but I didn't hear back from him.

do a quick youtube search on tortorella (there is a classic "presser" that pops up right away). He's made for TV (in the Bob Knight mode).
Alas, he will be unemployed for maybe a week. He's on his way to San Jose (he should be).
