YES show features New York sports stories . . . or not

stories_holloway.jpgI watched the debut Wednesday of a weird new show on YES called "SportsLife, NYC," a monthly half-hour magazine that the news release said "focuses on the personalities, unique events, trends, styles and new technology related to the world of sports in and around New York."

One of the segments featured Katie Holloway, a college basketball player who was born without a fibula in her right leg yet plays and plays well . . . at Cal State-Northridge.

Another segment was about Cal Ripken's book, "Get In the Game: 8 Elements of Perseverance That Make a Difference,” a self-help offering that has nothing to do with New York other than the fact Ripken was in the city to promote it.

Whatever. Maybe the show will find its voice (and focus) in the coming months.

At least it didn't feature any people screaming at each other about Willie Randolph. That's SNY's job.

at least it's not 'Ultimate Road Trip.'
