John Sterling seems to hint Yanks might be a bad team!

john_sterling.jpgJohn Sterling is getting increasingly frustrated with the Bronx Bombers, which should be a reliable source of amusement and entertainment.

"The Yanks make a lot of mistakes; bad teams do,'' he said during the top of the first Tuesday, referring specifically to the 0-2 pitch from Mike Mussina that the Orioles turned into a three-run double.

"Bad teams really lose all kinds of games. They lose 'em close, they lose 'em big, they lose high-scoring games, low-scoring games. They lose for different reasons."

No blogging most or all of the rest of the day. I'm going to make it a throwback afternoon and interview people, just like a newspaper reporter!

Having him calling Yankee's games is the biggest joke in sports.

The storied Yankees steeped in tradition, have a goofball on the radio, and his partner is a RedSox fan.

It's been so long since the Yankees stunk, I've forgotten how bad an announcer he really can be if he loses complete interest. Maybe if we are all lucky, he will get so disgusted he will quit after this season and the Yankees will bring in a major league announcer and a major league color analyst to do the job next season.

What are people's problem with sterling? People say you can't follow the game when he's calling it... how little do you have to know about baseball to not be able to follow the game when he's calling it. People... just because Phil Mushnick says it doesn't mean its true. In fact, if Mushnick says it, the opposite is usually true.

Alex,
He CANNOT see! He is either going blind or he is too busy coining catch phrases. Perhaps his style would be better suited for television but he represents every Yankee haters point to a smug, arrogant, hams that make the organization one of the most hated.

He might mess up homerun calls from time to time (and it's really not nearly as frequent as many people would have you see) but his nuts and bolts call is fine. I've never once had a problem following one of his calls. And your point that he emboldens Yankee haters... well that's simply unfounded and untrue.
