First ever public look at WatchDog headquarters

Neil_002.jpgThis is a picture Charlie Chilkoot took of me this morning.

This is where it all happens. Usually. I blogged from a jury room a few weeks back.

That's a SportsChannel hat I'm wearing.

The picture on the wall is Jim Fassel talking to the beat writers during the Giants' preparations for Super Bowl XXXV. It was taken by Tom Franklin of the Bergen Record, who also took that famous picture of the flag being raised at Ground Zero.

The caricature was done when I was editor of The Rag at Northport High School in 1977-78.

On the left is the rear end of a hippo pegboard. I have a hippo collection.

This is better than the Yankee Stadium tour!!! ;)

You should consider a webcam too.

Somewhere, Buzz Bissinger is po'd you let readers into your own personal world.

Here at Newsday, I think it's why you're the man.

I was expecting a pair of PJs and a half eaten bowl of Cheerios on the desk in the background. Also, where is your mom's washing machine?

Neil,

You look like Keith Olbermann after a rough night.

Don't worry -- You're the BEST!

Neil,

Ok, I think you should put on your little investigative reporter hat and use your special access to the Wfan executives.

With all this angst about our beloved Wfan prostituting itself for morning drivetime ratings I would like an explantion from some executive at the Wfan as to why they are ignoring the desires of the fans by keeping Craig Carton on the show. I would'nt ask Mr. Chernoff as I think he is part of the problem.

That same executive should know that Carton's schtick has sullied a respectable and credible sports talk station and is offending 95% of it's listeners. I'd like that executive to explain to me why he does not want me to listen to the Wfan between 6-10am each morning, because I do not.

The ratings that they espouse as justification are not even remotely accurate. I have listened to the Wfan since 1990 and those ratings have no way to track me or my listening habits. Therefor they have no way to know when I and other listeners change the dial. Obviously, by reading these other comments I suspect they are leaving in droves during the time slot and other times as well. Good luck in your efforts Neil, report back soon.

SCF

SCF: You certainly have a right to not like or listen to the show. But the ratings are what they are, and the ad people do look at them.

SCF,

Chernoff doesn't care. He has a willful disdain of WFAN listeners. He thinks they'll listen to ANYTHING.

Hence Screech, Boring Norman, The Cartoon, etc, etc

Chernoff rhymes with TURNOFF the FAN!

Neil,

Ok then on to plan B....insurgent anitwarfare. We must find and stamp out these miscreant listeners that have caused the Wfan to dumb down the airwaves and society in general. These evil doing non-freedom believers must be banished to the repository for sickos, perverts and dog kickers....yes, Satelite radio. Years from now this conflict will be known as the old bastard erudites vs the text messaging Jerry Springer clones.

Yes I need a hobby.

Bye for now

who is the worst peson of the day neil? or is thet keith o?

I think Ray Barone had the exact same setup

I'm shuddering from flashbacks caused by seeing the 60's tongue and groove wall paneling in the background.

The only thing missing are some cloth baseball team pennants with sticks extending from them, the unframed Daily News back cover of the Jet's win in '69 thumbtacked (one) into the wall, a coupla baseball cards hanging haphazardly, and a poster of Raquel Welch from the movie 1 Million Years BC scotch taped to the ceiling.

Where's the Cornell diploma? Or the sign that "This is a Daily, not a Weekly"? (Or in your case as a blogger, "An Hourly, not a Daily"?)

The Cornell diploma and framed Dryden picture are on the opposite wall.
