Boston Herald scribe throws himself at mercy of readers
Holy Woodstein!
It's painful for a journalist to read this apology from the fellow at the Boston Herald who made a big boo-boo on Super Bowl weekend.
On the other hand, it's good to see such contrition from a guy who (unlike Belichick) did not intend to break any rules and (unlike Belichick) seems genuinely remorseful and (unlike Arlen Specter, R-Comcast) is not wasting taxpayer money.
Plus, I have a pretty good idea of who the dude's source was, and it was understandable for him to believe what he or she said.
Sigh. Weird business.

why are u trying to bring yourself into this story. you dont know who the source is you liar. sure take shots at belichick and then make claims you cant backup. if you have such a 'good idea' why dont you print it?oh i know.cause you dont know. mind your own boring business neil
I think the source must be some supermodel that both John and Neil were involved with at one time.
Apparently, this journalist took no pain in reading the original article, which Tomase now admits was based entirely on rumor. There is nothing about the sourcing of the article that Tomase knows now that he didn't know back then. So why did it take him so long to speak out. And that "apology" is actually an explanation. The editor apologized - Tomase did not.
Typical of sports writers - they close ranks to defend each other. Tomase's "contrition" is the same as the guy who stands in front of a judge AFTER he's been convicted and says "I'm SO sorry, and I'll NEVER do it again". There is absolutely nothing Tomase said in this article that he couldn't have said in the original article. Of course, if he did that, we would have known there was no "there" there.
of all the things wrong with this piece, the use of the word "dude" troubles me the most.
Aloha, Mr. Hand?
weak by you Neil
he is jsut as bad as Belechick and did not apolgize either - both wanted something and lied/cheated to get it
What a joke - I noted elsewhere this does not bode well for your fair coveage of all things Knick/.Ranger related
will still read all your stuff and love it wehn the Hartford Courant uses you - but this is not your finest moment
