Isn't this the way now? Open the gates, let the fans in, let them buy expensive concessions, cancel the game and send them home early? Didn't the Mets do something like that last year after it rained (poured) all day long, and five minutes after the game was supposed to start, they called it off? I was surprised there were people in the stands.
Then there's the other way, open the gates, let the fans pay for concessions and wait, and wait and wait for hours for the rain to stop. Didn't the Yankees do that one Friday night last season and start a game at around 11pm?
I was at the game yesterday.. walking by the giant bat on the way out of the stadium, I told me dad to close him umbrella. He asked why, and I told him to just do it. He did, and then noted the same thing I did about 30 seconds earlier... it wasn't even raining anymore! We got back to midtown and I stared out the window, as no rain came for the next 3 hours. At which point I had to take a flight back to school.. $300 in plane ticket money lost cause they didn't want to play under the clouds.
