Patrick Ewing bothered by Knicks not calling him

p1_ewing_si.jpgPatrick Ewing spoke to his old coach, John Thompson, on TNT Saturday about the vacant Knicks job and the team's apparent lack of interest in him. Patrick is unamused.

Ewing on whether or not he wanted to be considered for the New York Knicks head coaching position: “Definitely. Obviously I played in New York, I know the area, I know the team, I know the fans, I know everybody. I know the media. So naturally I would have loved to interview.”

Ewing on being contacted about the Knicks coaching job: “No, no one’s contacted me…It did (bother me), but I guess that’s life. I’m in a great situation here in Orlando working with (Dwight Howard). If it doesn’t happen it doesn’t happen. But yes, it did bother me.”

(UPDATE: Here is a thorough story on this from Hahn.)

It says in FLORIDA TODAY that David Falk will be spoken to about Patrick Ewing's interest in the job in a few days. Hey Ewing has done so much good for Yao Ming and Dwight Howard as an assistant coach why not give him a shot as a head coach, at least he has proven coaching experience. Mark Jackson could be anything.

It doesn't matter who the coach is as long as Dolan runs this franchise. But as a coach Ewing can show his players around the hot clubs.

Ewing can't be far enough away from NY for my liking. I'm holding a grudge stemming from his pathetic lies and lack of leadership during the strike. If it's Jax v Patrick you take the Redman over the Hoya all day everyday.

Because it really worked out for Willis Reed as the coach for the Knicks!

CMG says,"Because it really worked out for Willis Reed as the coach for the Knicks!"...agreed

Ewing hated talking to the media during his playing days how would he handle the scrutiny as a coach? he would be second third and fourth guessed all day everyday. Lets face it Patrick Ewing was the face of the NY Knicks for a very long time but he was not the most beloved Knick of all time Donnie Walsh is doing him a favor by not interviewing him he will be much better off at the end of the day.
