Passover YouTube Fun, Part I

Check out Sandy Koufax making the Twins look silly in the 1965 World Series. Hurry, before the big meanies at MLB have it taken down.

When I was a kid I was given a book about famous Jewish sports stars. Save the jokes; it actually was reasonably thick. But probably a third of it was about Sandy Koufax.

I saw more rusty swings in that video than a turn of the (last)century playground with Bethlehem Steel equipment.

Of note from the video....wasn't that like the 1st time a TV production utilized the "centerfield camera" angle?
And captions on the screen?

Nah, the centerfield camera position had been in use for more than a decade then, as pioneered by NBC's Harry Coyle.
On-screen captions were also in use for at least 10 years previous.
There are some kinescopes [b+w] of the first color WS in 1955, won by the Dodgers. There was a CF camera then, as I recall, but because of Ebbets Field's configuration a CF camera position did not exist.

As Robert Wuhl said in terms of famous Jewish sports legends: "There was Sandy Koufax...and before that Hank Greenberg...and before that....David."

Vin Scully and Ray Scott. Two legendary announcers. Wow.

These were the days when NBC took one announcer from each team and had them team up for the World Series. I wish MLB would release these tapes.

Ray Scott, huh?
How did "Starr, Dowler, touchdown!" translate to Win! Twins!?

Scott was the lead announcer for the Twins from their inception in 1961 until 1966.
