NFL Draft ratings were down from last year, by the way

Eternal thanks to Richard Deitsch for watching and analyzing the NFL Draft coverage so I didn't have to observe any more of it than was absolutely necessary to pretend to have a superficial opinion in my Tuesday newspaper column.

why?

The 3 PM start threw everybody off in my opinion. I had no problem cutting down the time but there is no way the NFL had to cut Day 1 to just two rounds and move the time. The rapid fire on day one was contagious and why not just throw in another round at that pace? Plus the Noon start was perfect for everybody. People can't wait that long on a Saturday.

Neil, you must right about the mob mentality Costas and Buzz Bissinger put on Will Leitch on Costas NOW. Bissinger cursed at Leitch, said he was scared that Leitch was the face of the future in sportswriting, called his entries filth and garbage, called him names like "a modern Jimmy Olsen". You know the basic stuff that he and Costas complain about that are in blogs!

Would a noon starting time be perfect for viewers on the West Coast? That translates as 9AM. How many people in Eastern time would watch the NFL draft if it started at 9AM on a Saturday morning? How much of the population shifting more and more westward every year affects sports programming? NA$CAR and IRL races start later every year. The FOX saturday game starts at 4PM..30 years ago on NBC it was a 1 or 2 PM start. TV ratings do best when they mazimize the audience potential and no one cares about the fans or when they have to get home

much like the ncaa tournament for free on the internet, how much did the nfl network streaming its show live on the internet have to do with lower tv ratings?
