NBC nearing a new deal with NHL?
A Canadian paper says NBC is headed toward renewing its contract with the NHL, which means it has to be true.
Thanks to Fang's Bites for this tip and for staying on top of the sports media world and most of all for linking to moi early and often.

You're welcome, Neil. I'm always glad to link to you. You and I started blogging in interest just about the same time last year.
Maybe it's just me, but I feel like NBC's production hasn't been quite up to the standards of the past two seasons (although 100% HD is very nice). Hopefully they can get some of the energy and buzz back into the telecasts during the playoffs or next season.
Having said that, I don't think anybody has ever done a better NHL presentation than NBC, at least in this country.
BOO! Bring back ESPN/ABC! Costas doesn't even want to touch it with yard stick.
when did the lockout end?
How many markets actually show the NBC hockey games? One of my co workers says in 1971 when he was in the military stationed in Sherveport, LA, the local CBS station wouldn't show the weekly NHL game. When he called the station to complain, the manager told him "people down here just don't watch ice hockey".
jim, nobody watches hockey in the tri-state area either.
Actually ratings are up in New York and the Rangers draw better than the Knicks for the first time in ages. But as Joe Beningo said yesterday on SNL "There are sports talk show hosts here who do not talk hockey". I'm racking my brain trying to think of two.
Has Bob Costas taught Goldy Goldthorpe how to read yet?
up from nothing is still nothing,,jim
