That was almost as uncomfortable as watching Chris Hanson on "To Catch a Predator."
The Astros could have just waited another day and thought about trading for Tejada when that little Mitchell report was scheduled to come out..............
And the award to the most unprofessional media member goes to.....
This is why people hate the media. I hope the Astros boycott ESPN the rest of the season.
What do you think Neil?
Richie, I hate most of the media, including near every ESPN "personality." But unless Tejada was lied to, tricked into sitting down, I have no issue with the interview. Those question were not out of line. Lying about age has been a running story with latino players, it cheats the owners and fans. He has a strike re PED usage, now a second re lying about his age.
Would anyone care if the astros boycott ESPN?
Neil, thought this would be of interest to you:

It's an EP interview with your boss, a State of the Tribune address.
Richie: I think it was mildly tacky but certainly within the bounds of acceptable ambush interviewing.
Craig: I will check it out, thanks.
A healthy and inquiring press is important in a democratic society. Especially on issues involving our national interest. But this is a baseball player, nothing more. There is no reason for the media to have ambushed Miguel, except to create a buzz and help ratings. Obviously he was ambushed and agreed to be interviewed under flase pretenses. This is one of the reasons why so many people feel out of touch with the media, particularly the sports media. (For example, the media members have elevated the steroids issue because it's good for ratings. The fans could care less. Just look at attendance and revenues.)
Did the Astros have a right to know the truth about Miguel's age? Absolutely; heck they may have grounds to rescind his contract. Do the fans have a right to know? Sure. But did ESPN have to do it this way? No way. This was bush league.
Bush league. E:60 is AWFUL!
ESPN is total garbage. There is nothing of quality on there. Except for Lisa Salter, Rachel Nichols, and Erin Andrews. They could all get it
I'm pretty torn about this. See...I dont see why they had to sabotage him like that. I think they should have told him beforehand and then asked. I just think trying to humiliate him is unfair, and his lie did not deserve that humiliation.
