Keith Hernandez chats with fans . . . live on the air!

kellie-pickler.jpgAlas, I was not tuned in to SNY late in Wednesday night's Mets blowout. Sorry. I was probably watching "American Idol" or the Knicks or something.

(Did I mention I met Kellie Pickler during Super Bowl week? She was the only celebrity, other than Fox personnel covering the game, who would not give me a prediction for the game. Even Subway spokesman Jared Fogle cooperated!)

Anyway, if I had been watching I would have seen/heard the regular-season debut of a new feature: Fans calling in with questions on the air!

Three of the four callers were from Long Island. I'm not sure whether to be proud or ashamed.

Click below for the best question and answer.

Gary Cohen: John from Long Island is up next. John, you are on "Ask the Booth."

John: Hi, how are you doing? Keith, this one is for you. If you were elected into the Hall of Fame, would you go in as a Met or a Cardinal?

Keith Hernandez: Isn't there a new rule, Gary, where I don't have an option?

Gary: You don't get to choose. The Hall of Fame chooses for you.

Keith: I don't think it's ever going to happen, but it's out of my hands. And Major League Baseball makes that choice. But if I do go in, which I doubt, don't get mad at me if they put me in a Cardinals hat.

Gary: Well, if you had a choice? Or do you not want to go out on that limb?

Keith: Well, it's 50-50. I played both places, basically half and half, a little longer in St. Louis. I'd have to, gosh, it's a tough choice. I've got such loyalties to both organizations. I won an MVP in St. Louis. Blue is my favorite color, so I'll go with the Mets.

Gary: Very judicious answer. Very good.

Neil- Sorry for placing this comment here. I heard there were some Jose Canseco interviews on SNY's Daily News Live and on the WFAN morning show the last few days. Unfortunately I missed them both, but I was wondering if you can let us know if anything interesting transpired. I know whenever he speaks it is always interesting.

I linked to the Ca-Boom interview with him Tuesday in which he hung up - even though I was sitting in a jury duty waiting room at the time. Who knew jury rooms now have wireless!

I heard excerpts of his SNY interview. It was more of the same about A-Rod fooling around with his ex-wife.

The best part abotu his interivew on DNL was Scott Ferrall ripping SNY and every other media shows interviewing him on The Wheelhouse. He went on a rant about Jose's life that was similar to Rosie O'Donnell's take on Donald Trump though I doubt Jose could ever reach the height of The Donald's retort.

I would love to call into the booth and ask Keith- "Hey Keith, I'm moving this weekend was wondering if you can help?"
