I'm on a roll now, but I promise I am going to stop after this post.
Here are the times of the Yanks-Red Sox games from 2006:
3:04, 3:18, 3:13, 3:59, 2:43, 3:18, 3:30, 3:31, 2:44, 3:13, 3:55, 4:45, 3:41, 4:17, 3:03, 3:42, 3:39, 3:19, 3:45.
The list from 2007 and '08 is two posts down.
Sigh.

100% agree. Move the game along!
Batter steps out the box, gets a strike called on him. Also, add a 10sec pitch clock. Pitcher throws the ball >10sec after receiving it, gets a ball called.
341 pitches thrown in the game
24 runs scored.
30 hits.
36 minutes of in-between innings time. (2:25 per half inning, 15 half innings in a game)
What do you expect? Its not like it was a 2-1 ball game. It was a high scoring, high pitch game. Its going to take forever, especially when you have 2 offenses that are patient at the plate.
There is nothing wrong with the game of baseball and the length of time. It is the only major sport without a clock to determine the length of a game.
I just cant understand. I love the game of baseball. If it takes 2 hours, it takes 2 hours. If it takes 4 hours, it takes 4 hours. If you cant handle that, stop watching baseball.
There have been dozens of three-hour-plus games between these teams in recent years in which not many runs were scored.
Jason, I love you and all my readers, but how can you afford four hours out of your life every day to watch the Yankees and Red Sox adjust their batting gloves?
I hope you love me... Northport grad- '93... :-)
I dont have kids or anything better to do.....
actually,
Because its baseball. I take the good with the bad. I dont fret over the length of games. Luckily we only have the Yankees and Red Sox play each other 18 times. That leaves 144 games that might end before 4 hours.
There isnt much they can do to speed up the game. Every pitch is a battle. The pitcher and batter need to prepare for it. They want to speed the game up? Call the correct strike zone and cut down commercial time.
For me, a good sporting event is about 3 hours long.
I get more upset over the NFL taking a TV timeout for a challenged play. The whole reason they didnt want to do it was it slowed down the game. Now they waste 1-2 minutes on commercial before the ref actually reviews the play!
Oh... and I love you too Neil.
Jason W.: A Northport guy! In that case I can say nothing bad about you. But I was assuming that anyone who can so cavalierly accept a four-hour game must not have kids. I just thought it would be rude to write that in my earlier post.
