Breaking news: 1050 expands Michael Kay show
Stephen A. Smith at this very moment is doing his farewell show on ESPN 1050. How will he be replaced? Not with a new personality, and not with a new local show.
Michael Kay's show, previously heard from 4 to 7 p.m., will expand to 3 to 7.
And Mike Tirico's national show will be heard from 1 to 3 p.m. rather than the current 1 to 2.
Discuss among yourselves. I'm busy.

Does the show stream on line?
I believe it does, sir. (Or ma'am.)
the p.d is doing a bad job,my son should be doing the prime time drive time.
I'm glad we have a radio alternative to WFAN, but the only show I really like on ESPN is Mike & Mike (which I love). Actually, some of their other national shows are good too, but the local ones don't thrill me.
I think Andy's being serious. Please tell me that's sarcasm. Mike and Mike? You must be from the mid west. There's no way you live anywhere near NYC (thus you don't matter) if you like that fluff.
You might be the first positive post about that show ever on this blog.
2nd Positive post about Mike and Mike:
It's better than Carton.
M&M is the worst show on all sports radio, period. First of all, Mike Greenberg has a voice made for silent movies - he should be seen and not heard. Second of all, their entire act is a classless catskill shtick that might have worked in 1955 but is an abomination in 2008. Third, the nickname "Greeny" for Greenberg is the single most pedestrian and stupid nickname of all time. Fourth, Mike Golek doesn't really understand sports and basically pretends, but not convincingly (kind of like Stephen A Smith, though no one is as challenged as he is). Finally, there is not an ounce of spontaneous exchange between the two of them; the degree of scripting is akin to late night talk show interviews, the very essence of soulless and superfluous garbage.
Mike and Mike is awful, especially when off-topic. They never take phone calls anymore, they only interview their people, and they have each suffered from a case of swelling in the head. Neither is a fan; one is an anchor who fancies himself as the next Bob Costas while the other is an ex-jock who has as much grasp of the English language as Chris Russo. Plus the metrosexual and the jock schtick is as horribly overdone as seeing Greenberg dance in his seat to horrible contemporary pop songs with an unbuttoned shirt showing his chest hair. They are by far the worst on 1050, discluding the voice of the Master's hour (no two hour) show.
I'd must prefer Boomer and Carton.
What a wasted opportunity on 1050's part. I'd love to see the ratings on their national shows versus the local stuff on WFAN. Comparatively I bet the local shows (Kellerman and Kenny, Kay, Damer, et al) do better ratings wise. Don LaGreca should have a show by now. Does 1050 just think the reason Don does shows everywhere on satellite radio is because he's well-liked in the industry?
mike and mike are terrible. 1050 is terrible. greenberg is the most annoying that exists.
I caught 10 mins of Kellerman today at noon time. He was trashing golf and the masters like usual. Kenny told him some ESPN brass told them not to say negative things about masters b/c of their new affiliation. Max didn't care and kept bashing.
Thats whats missing from Mike and Mike. They are so cookie cutter Disney. Absolutely no edge. They're just sport anchors being told what to say and who to talk to. Their metro mike vs. manly mike shtick is so lame it makes me cringe.
I really want to learn more about Andy. The guy that loves mike and mike. Defend your boys! How old are you and where are your from? What teams do u like? What's you favorite TV show? ( My guess is Dancing with the stars or American idol) Your favorite musician? (John Tesh?)
Please enlightening us!
I think I understand now. If someone voices an unpopular opinion then they must establish their bona fides. Good to know.
Getting back to Mike and Mike: I'd rather listen to their mediocre program for a segment or two rather than listen to Carton saying "Look at me!", "Look at me!", Look at me!" for 4 hours on end.
Here's a question for the forum: Has anyone ever turned on the Boomer show and Carton wasn't speaking? I haven't except for once or twice there was a news segment going on.
How does Michael Kay broadcast from 3-7 everyday and get ready to call a baseball game?
