WatchDog discourages gambling, when you lose
One of the social highlights of the New York sports media calendar is CBS's annual first-day-of-the-NCAAs party on West 57th Street, in which luminaries from every network show up to watch games and drink adult beverages . . . and I sit hunched over a laptop writing a column while people tap me on the shoulder to say hello.
Among those on hand Thursday were Les Moonves, Dr. Judy Kuriansky, Armen Keteyian, Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton.
I was not going to mention the fact I made a friendly wager with Carton on Stanford-Cornell, as WatchDog does not endorse gambling and wants to set a good example for young readers.
But Carton mentioned said wager twice this morning on a 50,000-watt, clear channel radio station, so I might as well acknowledge it.
He said the good news is I owe him lunch, but the bad news is he has to have lunch with me. He wondered whether I could just drop a sandwich off at the station.
That was exactly how Mrs. WatchDog suggested I settle the bet!
I'm thinking a ham and tongue combo with mustard would be appropriate.

Is Carton aware that he and I are scheduled to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in a Speedo if/when I beat you in monthly page views? If not, could you let him know when you bring him the sandwich? Thanks.

Neil,
You're a smart guy. I just cannot fathom your on-going fascination with Norman and Craig in the Morning.
When will you show them the kind of balanced view you've shown to M+MD, amongst so many others?
Why did Carton bet on Stanford? It's pretty clear he didn't go there.
Neil
How about a moratorium on the Norman In The Morning puff pieces??????
I wrote one column about them, and it was neither overly positive nor negative.
Um, Neil,
With all due respect -- you really are THE BEST -- you've given favourable commentary to The QB and the Clueless several
times in the last five days.
Herewith a sampling of headlines:

With all due respect, regardless of what the headlines said these pretty much were balanced, newsy items, not glowing reviews of their show!
Dear Neil,
I'd agree that these posts -- whilst v high in frequency -- were "pretty much" flaccid, repetitive, and without much tooth.
The point that I was making is that you seem to be obsessed by the FAN morning show. As a genuine admirer of yours, all I'm aiming to suggest is that you're above this!
THAT'S why I asked if there could PLEASE be a moratorium on stories about these two clowns.
You ARE THE Best.
