Stephen A. Smith's status with ESPN not entirely clear

stephen.jpgI got the ball rolling on the Stephen A. Smith contract situation.

Now The Big Lead has picked it up.

I'll look back into all this next week, I suppose.

I'm taking the weekend off to celebrate Cornell's much-deserved No. 13 seed.

OK, maybe a 14. But anything less than that will be criminal!

(UPDATE: TBL's info that a meeting was held Tuesday on SAS's contract situation jibes with what I heard that ESPN 1050 was preparing for the possibility of his show not being on the air as early as Wednesday.)

who said,nobody cares about cornell?

At least Cornell didnt have to survive a tornado, then come back the next day and play 2 games in oh maybe 7 hours then come back to play again Sunday to get a tenth seed like the mighty UK Wildcats will have to do.
I hope Cornell plays the play in game that's the only way I will get to see them play.

Jeff P: I know the answer to that trivia question! It was Chris Russo, on WFAN, Friday afternoon.

Doesn't he know Cornell is the Great New York Hope in the NCAAs?

Big Red beat my school Union College at our place in the ECAC tournament. Typical. We sweep them regular season, both times convingly, and we fall asleep when it matters. Also I must say Cornell's school spirit made The Rink a total neutral ground. Our fan base can be pathetic sometimes.

Hilarious moment though: After my a Union College hockey player got in a skirmish with a Cornell player in front of the Cornell fan section, a guy who could have been NB's father gives the Union player the finger. The Union player Coyle winks at the guy. It was so funny since I was stuck in the fan section. Only silver lining in the loss.

nb.you are correct sir.step up for your prize

What will ESPN do nationally. Will they extend Tirico's show? Will they finally wake up and give Eric Kuselias back his show? Will we be stuck with another anchor with a radio show?

CMG: When I attended the Cornell at Princeton game, at least half the place was rooting for Princeton. And in November at MSG, at least two thirds of the place was rooting for Cornell over BU. Don't feel bad. We commonly dominate the fan competition.

Neil: Your thoughts on Raissman taking your story a week later and running with it?
