NBA games on ESPN doing better with young guys
Another ratings post (sorry):
NBA ratings are up modestly overall at ESPN/ABC this season, but viewership is way up among the coveted young male demographic.
On ESPN, men 18-34 are up 45 percent over last season and men 18-49 are up 33 percent.
On ABC, men 18-34 are up 22 percent and men 18-49 are up 20 percent.
I don't know why. I'm just happy to still be in the men 18-49 demo.

Do 49 year old men act the same as 18 year old men? Or is that how advertisers and TV executives think? How much of this increased TV ratings has to do with TV writers strike?

Jim: Fair point. I'm sure the writers strike helped.
The NBA may pound for pound have the best TV coverage of any pro sport on the continent but next to the NHL, they have the smallest audience by putting all these all-star games, marquee matchups, and playoffs games on cable stations.
