Thank you, John Philips for another excellent YouTube post.
The highlight of this pre-game clip from the 1973 World Series comes about three minutes in, when Tony Kubek bluntly hammers Athletics owner Charles Finley in a fashion difficult to imagine from any current sideline reporter.
Then Catfish Hunter and Tom Seaver pile on!
Plus, Tony gets Seaver to handle the mike for him, as Curt Gowdy notes afterward.
Great stuff.

The short old man standing behind Seaver and Hunter is former NY mayor Abe Beame.
Kubek ended up on MSG from 1990 to 1994 broadcasting Yankee games for another egotistical owner named George Steinbrenner. Both Steinbrenner and Finley won multiple World Series. Make of that what you will.
It was great to both see AND hear Lindsey Nelson, talk about blast from the past.Met fan since '62.Thanks guys.
This is GREAT STUFF Neil,
Watching Catfish and all the other Prince Valiants behind him in this video made me go resurrect (no offense, but it is Easter today, ya know) my freshman ID card from Manhattan College to remind myself that I too, was a part of that horrible hair culture.
That was a time when no successful barber shop could operate without mama's spaghetti bowl as part of it's molding equipment.
Fun stuff
On HBO they had doc called Rebels of Oakland on the Raiders and A's in the '70s. What Charlie O. Finley did was try to "fire" Mike Andrews after making a couple of errors in Game 2. Bowie Kuhn would reinstate Andrews and fine Finley. I believe this was the game where Andrews came back. He ended up getting a standing ovation by the Shea crowd. Judging by Williams' resignation and Catfish's comments, I guess the doc hit it on the nail about Charlie Finley.
