Here is a partial transcript of this morning's return verbal salvo from WFAN's morning team aimed at its afternoon team.
Craig Carton and Boomer Esiason played a tape from Friday of Mike Francesa and Chris Russo responding to a caller who told them the morning guys had said Clark Kellogg doesn't do interviews the day after the brackets come out:
"What business of Boomer and Carton is it? They've been in the business 13 minutes,'' Francesa said, later adding, "They probably don't know much about Clark Kellogg.''
This prompted much sarcasm and giggling from Carton and Esiason.
"We're idiots, we're stupid, were simpletons,'' Carton said. "I want to thank the FAN for giving guys with 13 minutes of experience a shot to do mornings here and I want to thank CBS, because we know nothing at all about Clark Kellogg and college basketball, for agreeing to put him on the show. Thank you, fellas. We appreciate that. First time we've been acknowledged by them on this radio station and it's a shot.''
Said Boomer: "I've only run into him a thousand times, I've only talked to him a thousand times about college basketball.''
Said Carton: "We appreciate you guys referencing us as if we actually existed . . . Fun at the FAN, always fun at the FAN . . . Maybe we're making progress. We've been acknowledged. It's good. It's all good. Happy family.''
A few minutes later, Jim Nantz was on as a guest, and opened with a crack about Francesa's "13 minutes" remark, an interview conveniently archived on the station's Web site.

hey neil - sent you an email about Walt Frazier and last night's Knicks game (vs. Pacers). didn't feel like following that one up???
I forgot, darn it. I'm sorry. Will check tomorrow to see if I taped it.
Not exactly the Stern Vs Imus feuds from the days gone by but when you get radio guys on the same station throwing daggers at each other you always get the warm fuzzy feeling inside.56
Wait. A misogynist and an egomaniac in the morning have trouble
with
an egomaniac and a racist in the afternoon???????????
What I want to know is why Matthew Broderick's lead character in the 1990 movie "The Freshman" is named Clark Kellogg.
