You gotta love this extensive NBC post-game report after the comeback that launched the Brett Favre epoch.
It includes Brett, naturally, plus Bob Costas explaining how Favre's name is pronounced, O.J. recalling facing Mike Holmgren in high school, Jim Lampley's play-by-play and Buddy Ryan opining against the prevent defense.
Cool.

Actually, it's pronounced "farv" because you don't pronounce the "e".
Just like my name is spelled "Sipniewski" but it's pronounced "smith". :)
Cool clip. Too bad the Juice became a murderous thug. He had a lot going for him.
CC: I thought he was found not guilty by a jury of his peers.
The not guilty thing was a technicality. At the time, I was Mr. Mom, "working" freelance out of the house, with the trial on the tube constantly. And I decided he was guilty, which was later confirmed by the results of the civil trial. Right?
I didn't buy any of that "the glove doesn't fit" bull.
"The Atlanta Falcons select............ Brett Faver. Quarterback from Southern Mississippi."
Now if that's any clear indication of where he came from than I don't know what is.
Love the question "Do you know how long Majkowski might be out for". No one knew that the answer would be "Forever".
Thanks Brett, what a ride.
So, "Favre" is pronounced "Favre" because Bob Costas says so.
Who the hell is he to determine pronunciation. I would like to see an explanation of why it is so pronounced.
