Jim Baumbach, Newsday's world famous Web columnist, tipped me off this morning to this historic news out of St. Louis:
The Buck Era in the Cardinals booth is over.
Joe had been cutting way back on Cardinals games in recent seasons, but now he is down to zero, ending a legacy that dates way, way back to his venerable father, Jack.
It was a heck of a run.

FSN Midwest general manager Jack Donovan said Buck will be missed.
"We're sorry to see him leave, but we were lucky to have him as long as we did," Donovan said. "Unquestionably, he's the best play-by-play guy in sports.''
I disagree with that guy, some of Joe Buck's best work is when he says nothing at all.
i guess you can call it, bucking the trend.
Joe is making big bucks from Fox so he can afford to drop the Cards.
Who's or what WORLD do you live in Neil?
NOT IN MY BOOK!!
Here's hoping with the demise of the Buck legacy, they don't decide to restart the Carey legacy.
Joe Buck is terrible. Absolutely terrible.
Joe Buck showed as much enthusiasm on the Giants final drive of the Super Bowl as Ed Coleman doing Spring Training games. So unenthused. I'm not saying he should turn into Gus Johnson but Marv Albert, Gil Santos, and Bob Papa all had superior calls. How he keeps on winning sports emmys remains perplexing. At least you can point to McCarver being a good announcer at one point in his life.
Not like he was a fixture the last couple of years in St. Louis anyway. His games have been cut down season by season to a point where he only did 4 Cardinals games last season.
