Brett Favre is gone, ending man-crushes across U.S.

300103.jpgThe retirement of Brett Favre will be a devastating blow to the TV announcers of America, whose collective man-crush on Favre long has been one of the most amusing, annoying realities of NFL coverage.

Sigh.

And to think, it was Our Giants who drove him to this! (I assume.)

Anyway, ESPN should be able to cover the subject adequately for you with a special SportsCenter at 1 p.m.

A TWO-HOUR special SportsCenter.

Enjoy.

Too bad the Giants victory over New England didn't break Belichick and Brady the way their victory over GB broke Favre. Good bye and good riddance!

ahh nfl pro set cards. you always seem to have the good pictures.

Thank god he's finally retiring. Great player, but I'm just tired of hearing the media fawn all over him. It's like he has his own cheerleading section. How many times do I have to hear Madden say how much Favre just loves playing football?

I kind of wish he didn't retire now. Especially when I know his last throw of his career was an INT against my team that no matter what you look at it, set us up for victory to go to the Super Bowl.

Sports Illustrated's Peter King now has to choose someone else to write about. John Madden will now gush over Tom Brady. Steve Mariucci will cry whenever he talks about Favre on the NFL Network.

The collateral damage inflicted by Brett Favre's retirement extends well beyond the TV booth.
If Frank Calliendo doesn't come up with a replacement gig for his impression of Madden fawning over Favre, his career may be over as well.
I'm thinking a "Glauber Interviewing Crean" gig just might save Calliendo's career .....AND.....end Glauber's.

Anybody get any reaction from Browning Neagle?

Yeah Good Riddance to the last guy in sports who played with the zest and enthusiasm of a six year old boy. Thank God all we have left is now players who play only for the money, and would jump from team to team for an extra penny. Thank God the guy that would play through any amount of pain is now gone, so we can see a guy miss half the season with a pinky injury.
Favre wasn't the greatest QB of all time, but he was the greatest to watch.
Go ahead, make fun of me. And may the Lord have mercy on all of your souls!!
