Super Bowl week was very difficult for several scribes

LenPasquarelli.jpgIf it weren't for the fact this stuff is so extremely serious . . . it would be an opportunity to make cracks about the unhealthy eating, sleeping and exercise habits of sportswriters.

It has been a tough week for several of the nation's most prominent sportswriters.

Michael Wilbon of ESPN and The Washington Post suffered a heart attack.

Peter King of SI, NBC and HBO missed the Super Bowl because of an attack of bronchitis. (I had just seen him at the SI party Saturday night!)

Len Pasquarelli of ESPN underwent multiple heart bypass surgery over the weekend after feeling ill during Saturday's Hall of Fame voting.

Worst of all, Bob Ryan of The Boston Globe and ESPN learned of the death of his son in Pakistan.

Wow. Best wishes to all of the above.

Is the Lisa Olsen quitting the NYDN because Lupica stole her story (again) true? That definately would merit being in your list since the story had to do with Lawrence Tynes.

Wilbon was back on the air today. Ryan's loss is devastating. I would have loved to see him eating crow, he was oddly boastful about what the Pats were going to do to Big Blue. Instead he and his family are in my prayers. As a dad I've no idea how one gets up off the floor facing the loss of a child.
