Islanders fans have been weighing in via e-mail all morning in response to today's newspaper column about the gap between the team's weekday and weekend attendance.
I'll respond to everyone individually eventually, but one consistent theme from fans trying to explain the disparity has been the difficulty of getting to the arena on a weekday in terms of both traffic and the 7 p.m. starting time, which is a big challenge for commuters.
Anyway, thanks for reading. The column also includes items about Chris Russo turning into a political lobbyist, Fox planning to bury cameras in the asphalt in Daytona and a guy fishing in Central Park on Versus.
(Ms. Brinkley is 54, so I have not technically violated my vow, Glauber. Hah!)

which is more fun, islander hockey or roller derby?32
she may not be young neil, but she's definitely attractive!
Chris Simon would have fit in well in Roller Derby, but Charlie O'Connell would have eventually kicked his sorry butt. With ticket prices as high as they are, and taxes and Cablevision costing LI consumers so much, is it surprising that people sit at home and watch hockey on tv? I can only imagine how bad an NBA team would draw if they played at the Coliseum.
Charlie O'Connell???
Joanie Weston would have annihilated Simon. She would have at least showed him the proper way to skate stomp someone without being caught.
mike gammon and judy maguire would dominate.
Well, they would certainly score more than the current crop of Islander jammers.
Islander505 you are ABSOLUTELY right Joanie Weston could kick men's butts especially a "man" like Chris Simon. Mike Gammon and Judy Maguire maybe not so much. But put them up against Jaromir Jagr for sure. Carol "Peanuts" Myer would handle him as well.
Here you go Sandy, Here's a Classic

Love the "old-time" dry deadpan announcers.
Oh and let's not forget Tony Roman, Isles could use him on a wing.
Now THAT was a great fight!! Dave Schultz couldn't have done that in his prime.
