Watchdog

I wasted a lot of everyone's time before last Friday's column asking Boomer Esiason, Craig Carton and Mark Chernoff about the fact WFAN's morning show has spent most of its first six months focused almost exclusively on sports.

I was assured by all that the mix would continue to evolve, and likely move to broader topics now that football is over.

Sure enough, listening this morning there already has been a turn in the direction of what commonly is known as "guy talk," a staple of sports talk stations around the nation when there is a shortage of meaty sports topics.

(Of course, "guy talk" usually means talking about girls, or in this case a lot about the breasts of baseball players' wives, so maybe that is sports talk. Oh, heck, I don't know.)

Does it make for a good listen? Up to you. I assume it tends to skew the audience younger than straight sports or political talk. We'll see. In the end it's all about ratings and billings.

I'm done with radio for the rest of the day, as well as blogging. I've got some stuff to take care of for the Job for Which I Get Paid, writing a newspaper column.
