Here is a story for which there was not room in the Friday newspaper:
Seth Horowitz is a lifelong Giants fan, but that was only part of the reason he was rooting for the team Sunday night in Arizona.
“Knowing there was an upside emotionally for me and financially for our company made it easy to root for them,’’ he said.
That’s because Horowitz is executive VP at Modell’s Sporting Goods, and his company has benefited spectacularly from the victory by the chain's hometown team.
Horowitz declined to cite sales figures but called the past week a “record-breaking Giants merchandise performance’’ and added, “This event for football has been one of a kind.’’
Horowitz said sales momentum had been building “ever since Tynes’ field goal went through the uprights in Lambeau’’ and it reached new levels this week. Horowitz took a red-eye out of Arizona and was at the Modell’s in Times Square by 7 a.m. Monday.
“By that time, we were packed with product and customers,’’ he said.
Horowitz said perhaps the most popular item has been the championship T-shirts worn by the players after the game.
Sales at NFL Shop.com were up 80 percent over the first four days after last year’s Super Bowl.
Eli Manning ranks seventh in jersey sales on NFL Shop.com since April, up from 20th place as of Dec. 31.

Frontrunners, all of them.
I hate it when a team wins and suddenly everyone is wearing their crap. Real fans don't need to be festooned head to toe to show their true allegiance.
To all of those who paid $80 for an Eli jersey....suckers ;)
Btw, I'm a Giants fan...since I was 7 in 1985.
Phil...I am a true fan...Section 117 row 20...I own an Osi Umneyiora, Harry Carson, LT, 3 Tiki Barbers, 2 Strahans and a Shockey Jersey...I now have the Super Bowl Hat, Long T-shirt, short sleeve T, hooded sweatshirt and well as the ones for the NFC Championship, the 2005 Division Hat and sweatshirt, the 2000 NFC Championship Hat, 6 Giant Sweatshirts, 4 Long T-s and and 7 t-shirts plus 10-12 hats. I also have 3 coats and multiple stocking hats and gloves...2 pairs of pajama pants. The key is I wear Giant layers every Sunday..during the playoff run I wore my Osi Jersey over my Long Sleeve NY t-shirt. When I go to games its all Giants gear layed on top of each other...now I am a lunatic...I understand this...but because we buy all these things and give in to the man does not make me any less of a fan.
I went to Training Camp twice this season and the attendance was pathetic, though that had a little bit to do with the popular night practices. Most of the fans were from upstate and took their little kids. I've been to other training camps and usually there's still a good contigent from downstate and even people from CT, NJ, MA, and VT that come. The morale was okay among fans and players but most of the pessimism was among the media and fans who believe everything Sean Salisbury says. Now next year, I believe the last training camp in Albany, is going to be near impossible to go to now because of the fairweather fans coming out of the woodwork and media hounds coming in.
