Breaking news: Keith Hernandez re-signs with SNY

keith.jpgWell, it's not exactly breaking news, since I reported it (first) a few weeks ago. But it is official now.

Hernandez signed a new multi-year deal that calls for him to make more than 110 appearances in 2008 and to contribue to the pre-game and post-game shows as well as the station's Web site.

"I’m looking forward to calling Mets games on SNY for many years to come,'' Hernandez said in a news release.

Best Keith moment from last year was when they showed a Citi Field worker sitting on a beam, doing nothing. Without missing a beat, Keith said, "Ah, must be a union job". Cohen almost choked on his own spit!

Keith's awesome. But he needs a Darling and a Cohen to be awesome. And now somewhere, Phil Mushnick is crying since he think Keith is the worst thing since rap music.

So is the Wayne Hagin hire official? Nothing has been posted on the Mets website nor has WFAN posted anything on Hagin joining Howie in the radio booth or his profile.

CMG: It is not official. Not sure what the hold up is.

Keith is just everywhere in the past week...resigning with the Mets, kissing Elaine in his car on Seinfeld, and even a Jeopardy! answer (or question? I can never decipher between the two) last week. I hope this Mets booth stays together for a long, long time...
