A cool media subplot to U.S.-Soviet game in 1980

tretiak.jpgCheck out this interesting interview with Curt Chaplin about his bit role in the media drama surrounding the United States' Olympic hockey victory over the Soviet Union 28 years ago Friday.

I'm still really annoyed that ABC showed the game on tape delay. Really, really annoyed. But I'll get over it eventually.

Maybe when the U.S. wins a gold medal in team handball.

You're not the only one annoyed by the tape delay, Neil. I'm still mad that fans in Canada and those along the border in the U.S. got to see it live on CBC.

I saw it live! hey, thanks so much for posting the story of my (bootleg?) call of the Miracle Game. i'm thrilled that this story is finally being told.

ken,your posts need more humor.

And before Curt Chaplin was an ABC Sports Reporter, he worked on the WNEW-FM morning show with Dave herman and Mark McEwen.

When Howard Stern was on WNBC, Chaplin was on the show as a traffic reporter, flying in the "N" copter. Howard nicknamed him Mr. Potato Head.

Having had the pleasure and honor to work with Curt way back in the day at WNEW-FM as an intern and then at one of the best jobs I ever had doing sports for Radio Free New York back in 92-93. The recording is fantastic! Great Job Curt miss talking with you! Albatross
