Dick Vitale is due back the first week of February, which at least will be one reason briefly to pay attention to college hoops before March.
I got to know Vitale reasonably well during my days covering St. John's in the early 1990s and always was struck by how much he acted in real life as he does on the air.
It's not just shtick. The guy is genuinely, intensely, sincerely into it.
