New York journalists are serious, detached and cynical

giants.jpgNew York sportswriters covering playoff games in smaller burgs often make fun of the way local TV newspeople turn to embarrassing puddles of cheerleading goo whenever the hometown heroes prepare for a big game.

Sometimes, they even wear the home team's jersey on the air. No, really.

Often, I have reminded my fellow scribes that local TV newspeople in big, bad New York are no better in similar circumstances.

Such as . . . this.

What if the Giants win Sunday? Next week is going to be scary around here.

nb,any chance you will fancy a gordons fisherman outfit?

sorry.it is gortons

come on neil, it's a morning show on fox. were you really surprised that they would send out a good looking girl in a giants jersey to rile up commuters? it's a no brainer

If Peggy Krone (sp?) was still at NYW she'd probably be in pads with a helmet.

You should see the Boston/Providence anchors who wear Patriots hats, jerseys and jackets pretend that they're behind the home team. It's laughable. So much for professionalism.

If you don't post your picks in my impromptu football picks contest, I'm going to accuse you of being paranoid to the point of not wanting to give away any page views. Get to it!

Charlie Chilkoot, you too!

Glauber: I did! Cowboys 4, Giants 2

Best,

The contest involves picking all four games. I appreciate your Cowboys-Giants score. It's akin to your prediction that Dave Brown's 1995 Giants would go to the Super Bowl.
