Maz back with SNY

mazzilli.jpgLee Mazzilli widely was expected to join Joe Torre in L.A. for the coming season, but in fact he will be back as SNY's lead studio analyst. He will work more than 80 Mets pre- and post-games.

SNY said ratings for its pre-game show rose 46 percent compared to 2006.

The network will produce 16 spring training games, beginning on Feb. 29 against the Cardinals. Some enterprising reader out there really should look up whether the Mets ever have played a game on that date before.

Not me, though. I'm supposed to be writing Giants stuff.

I just looked it up- you have to go back only one year to find an earlier start for Spring Training for the Mets:
2/28/07 they played the Tigers in Port St. Lucie. I can't find the boxscore.

I'm not suprised Maz is back- seems he likes the low pressure job and being in NY full-time

Actually I just found the boxscore on espn.com-Tigers won 5-4

Okay- now I really need to stop researching this nonsense (I do have a life, but this is more fun than doing my job):

I found an earlier start:
2/27/03 Mets lost to the Cardinals 6-3

Mike F.: I wasn't wondering about earliest game, I was wondering about games on Leap Day.

I feel very stupid, and need to do a better job reading

Mike F. You take after your namesake very well. I'm sure he's proud.

Sandy- At least I can admit when I made a mistake. I've been waiting 20 years to hear Francessa admit that
