Golfweek fires editor in wake of noose cover

SEND_HELP.jpgA loyal reader just wondered why I haven't posted anything yet about Golfweek firing its editor.

I was researching a newspaper article about that and doing some Giants stuff for Sunday.

Here is the link to the AP story. Sorry for the delay, but in the future check Newsday.com's main sports page for breaking news as well as the blog.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks Neil - a couple of sentences from you and the golf world turns upside down for two weeks.

Does this make you nervous about what you write? I feel like you guys in the media are the new politicians where one mistake can end it for you.

I look forward to your Sunday column on this and have noticed you more and more in my Hartford Courant.

Please do not write about me anymore - I fear for my job

It's the Curse of Neil Best....

So Neil, how does it feel to be directly responsible for one person being suspended and and indirectly responsible for another being fired?

Remember, had you not "added two sentences at the end of an 800 word column"...this wouldn't have happend. Is this why your column exists? I thought we had Rev AL as the one to go to for these things.

In any case, the bright side of all this is that people are reading.

Brad Benson better watch his back....

So, Neil

When will those Golf Channel dopes finally get it? Just saw Vince Cellini interview Jimmy Fallon and Anthony Anderson. Fallon joked about crashing barbecues, bar mitzvahs, and a bris during his round on Friday.

After the chat, GC cuts back to Rich Lerner and Nick Faldo, whereupon Lerner "jokes" that it's the first time a bris has been mentioned on their channel. He THEN adds something to the effect of "...if it was a bris, at least you know the food was good."

Stop the madness, Neil. Jewish or not, Lerner shouldn't be going there. Not this week, and probably not at all.

And before anyone asks, I'm more offended by the lame attempt at humor than by the ethnic stereotype.
