ESPN buys a piece of NBA China

yao.jpgThe NBA announced Monday the formation of NBA China, which will conduct all of the league's businesses in that nation.

Five partners, including ESPN, are investing $253 million for 11 percent of the company.

The NBA said it has relationships with 51 Chinese telecasters, including a partnership of more than 20 years with national broadcaster CCTV. The league employs 100 people in four offices in Greater China, and its NBA.com/China is the most popular sports site in China.

"NBA.com/China is the most popular sports site in China."

Isn't that mainly a result of there being no weblogs.newsday.com/sports/watchdog/blog/China site, in China?
