Arthur Staple, Neil Best, Troy Aikman, Eli Manning, etc.

Here's my Newsday.com video debut.

Just remember before you watch it: You never will get those five minutes of your life back.

Katie Strang and Mark La Monica and their Newsday.com cohorts usually can't find me in my basement, but I got cornered when I showed up at Giants Stadium Wednesday and ended up in front of a camera beside stellar Newsday beat writer Arthur Staple.

(If I'd been given fair notice, I would have made sure to lose 20 pounds and experiment with hair plugs.)

It was part of quite the multi-media extravaganza for me over the past 24 hours, including newspaper, newspaper Web site, blog, satellite radio (XM), terrestrial radio (WBAB) and now Newsday video.

No TV.

That's Glauber's job.

giants online has nothing to worry about.

You did fine, Neil. Great job. Now if Newsday can only get you and Bob Glauber together to make the 21st Century version of the Odd Couple.

Neil, I believe that is the same face I saw on the sidelines of the Giant-Patriots pregame show. The NFL Network had about 30 hours of pregame and about 1 1/2- 2 hours before kickoff I thought I saw you on the sidelines. I believe you were talking to some children. Can you confirm or deny the allegations?

Good point Neil in brining up the Troy Aikman rooting situation. I didn't think about that until now...not that it will make any difference. Troy's a professional and I'm sure he will be impartial the whole game (although he will be rooting for Dallas on the inside).

We do have our fair share of "homers" in NY sports broadcasting past and present- John Sterling is my favorite, followed by Scooter

Karl: I was indeed on the field for about an hour before the Giants-Pats game. I do not recall talking to any children. But I was talking to Steve Tisch and his kids were nearby.

You have a bit of an Andy Kaufman look to you, at least in the freeze frame.

Caught you on 'BAB today; you were great. An unexpected surprise, to say the least. It's a good thing I caught the later train.

On the other hand, I still hope that we're your favorite show to do.

Best:

I am sitting at your old cubicle at Giants Stadium, the one where you'd often end your day with your head on the desk after listening to one too many Jim Fassel quotes, and laughing at your self-deprecating humor. Thank you for offering a comical conclusion to a rather hectic day.

Neil,
I thought that was indeed you. I never commented because your elevator ride with the supermodel was more important. By the way, does being on the NFL Network means you are siding against Big Cable?
