WatchDog seeks to shock blog world as a No. 16 seed

princeton.jpgThanks to a tip from a mikefrancesa.com poster, I learned this morning that WatchDog qualified for a 64-team tournament to determine the best sports blog of 2007.

The bracket is filling in as you read this on a blog called Busted Coverage. (Parental warning: In addition to covering sports, this site prominently features young women wearing relatively little clothing.)

The good news: WatchDog is in the running. The bad news: It's seeded No. 16 in the Midwest and facing a first-round match against Deadspin, the No. 1 seed in the region and perhaps the favorite to win it all.

Things are going better than expected so far, with the voting about 3-to-1 in Deadspin's favor. (I would have done better if had they kept me in my natural geographic region in the East, which also would have meant missing less class time!)

Voting ends at midnight tonight, so WatchDog readers (who have their parents' permission to visit Busted Coverage) have plenty of time to shock the world . . . if they are so inclined.

That's a rough draw, Neil - but you have my vote.

Side note, maybe the Mets should allow Howie Rose to go Vin Scully on us and do the games solo on the radio. In this world of 2 and 3-men booths my guess is that it's highly unlikely, but is there any chance that you could ask Howie if something like that would interest him? When a big play happens, I want him making the call. If he was working all 9 innings, we would be guaranteed to hear him make the big calls.

Just a thought on a slow sports day.

Wow. That's a lot of work. But I'll ask him. Why not?

Yeah, it is a lot of work - especially since he has a second full time job working with the Islanders. He probably likes the 4 innings off a game.

That being said, he is a tremendous baseball announcer and I think would do well as a one-man team.

Thanks in advance, Neil - I appreciate it.

Good luck.... tough draw. if you only had 600 more friends you might have a shot! get your media buddies involved...

What seed is Glauber?

Glauber was hoping for an NIT bid. Maybe next year.

Neil,

Before I post this link I am going to warn other posters this may not be legitimate and may be offensive.
