Newsday honors WatchDog . . . and its readers!
Newsday announced today the winners of the annual Publisher's Awards, the highest honor the paper annually gives its employees.
And I'm pleased and proud to announce WatchDog is a co-winner in the brand-new blog category, which will be shared with Mark LaMonica and his Entourage blog. (That's a clean Cornell sweep of the category, if you're scoring at home.)
Adam Abramson was a well-deserved finalist for his college football blog.
I was fortunate enough to win the sportswriting Publisher's Award in 2004 for a series on then rookie quarterback Eli Manning. This time it's more of a shared honor, because of the interactive nature of blogs.
So thank you and congratulations, readers! (And everyone who works on making Newsday.com the Web success story it has become.)
As usual, the sports department was well represented elsewhere on the Publisher's Award list. Shaun Powell won for commentary and John Jeansonne in the sportswriting category.
