It's starting to bum me out that Chris Russo and Mike Francesa keep going on the air without having read WatchDog first.
They just spent five minutes speculating about which game would be in prime time Dec. 23, a good 30 minutes after I posted the answer here.
Now they are debating in detail why the league didn't pick the Packers-Bears game, even though that game was off the table because Fox protected it two months ago.
Sigh.
(Update: At 1:50, someone told the boys Packers-Bears was off the table. Thanks for reading.)

I'm surprised that Francesa didn't go up to Mt Sinai last night and get the TV schedule directly from the Allmighty. He does seem to know everything. After all, I heard him on Friday afternoon yammering about how Brandon Jacobs would not play on Sunday for the Giants. Absolutely not play, not a possibility that he would play. No way could Jacobs play.
Query- who was the big guy in the Jacobs uniform on Sunday afternoon? Marion Motley reincarnated "For One More Day (sorry Mitch Albom)."
Why would he drive out to Suffolk to get the TV schedule?
Yes, I turned on the two clowns to hear them say they are so happy that NBC didn't pick Favre and the Packers. Not one mention that Fox protected the game months ago.
Have they said anything in the last 40 minutes to correct their ignorant analysis? I would be suprised if they said they were wrong, but just wondering.
I can't believe people are still watching/listening to that show. Francesa's condescension toward callers, ignorance and know-it-all-ness (those go hand-in-hand) is a major turn off, and Russo's goofiness is no longer as entertaining as it used to be. Their show has pretty much turned me off to sports talk radio in general. Yes, Neil, I know their show pretty much drives the topics of the next day's sports headlines and they still attract a large audience, but I feel the show is losing its influence among fans such as myself that do have knowledge of sports that Francesa always seems to denigrate. Anything that can back me on this? Ratings/demos in recent years?
I am only speaking for myself, but I enjoy turning it on when I want to have a good laugh. There is only so much Knicks talk I can take on Screaming A Smith show.
But I definitely agree with you, it isn't significant in the lives of those who have a knowledge of sports.
No doubt Francessa will break the news of the Viking/Skins game with the same arrogance he always does and act like he broke the story.
Fatso and Fruit Loops can get away with this stuff because their core listeners are too stupid to know they are wrong.
Neil, say this after me ...
I will not listen to Fatso and Froot Loops ...
I will not listen to Fatso and Froot Loops ...
I will not listen to Fatso and Froot Loops.
But I know you have to, because of your job, and the lack of decent competition on 1050. I listened to some of the first hour while in the car ... and it was just so bad. After Mushnick attacked Fatso again ... and after the boys put their feet in their mouths over the end-of-season NFL scenarios [easily found on the internet] ... plus they're prolly not gonna touch the Michael Vick verdict with a 10-foot pit bull bite pole ...
Another fun Monday afternoon on the FAN.
If anyone is serious about their complaints about Mike and Chris they can always write to Mark Chernoff. At the same time you can include your own demo tape showing how much better you'd be. If you can convince Chernoff something should change, it might happen. I've seen instances of Mike and or Chris not having seen the latest news reports on occasion. With all the demands on their time
, I've thought it would be easy enough to have an assistant of some kind list a rundown of news items for them. This isn't a novel idea, it's done for other kinds of radio or tv shows, but WFAN has chosen not to do it. They must have a reason, such as "we've always done it this way" take a hike, etc. Radio stations are very cheap places and the business has been shrinking for years. They are more like a "Mom and Pop" deli or grocery than anything else. If Chernoff hasn't wanted to change something it probably won't change. So mail in your tapes, or sentence yourself to the white noise vanilla offerings you get from types like Mike and Mike.
Dear Susan,
With all due respect, I'd prefer if WFAN would release the post 9/11 tapes of these racist, anti-semitic clowns so the world can see how lazy, arrogant, and generally ignorant the Wimp and the Blimp really are....
those 9-11 tapes are long gone. after a month - they're gone. sure, they have clips here and there of anniversary shows and highlights - but that's it. long gone. get over it. no 9-11 tape. no matter what you think.
We may never hear the 9/11 tapes from the Jerk and the Smirk but we do have their racist analysis of Sean Taylor case:

These guys need to apologise!
these guys are the first radio guys to lift something off a blog. it's crazy how i'll read the sports blogs and then fire up the radio and hear them talking about the exact same things. i'm not even talking about the popular stories of the day, a lot of times it's the small/obscure stuff that lands on the blogs.
and dont forget how they ganged up on the yankee pitcher who crashed his airplane and yucked it up until the tragedy
