Hockey ratings show improvement in 2007-08
Speaking of hockey (see post below), according to Sports Business Daily, three of the four biggest increases in local TV ratings in the NHL so far this season have been recorded by the New York-area teams.
The Islanders were No. 1 with a 176 percent improvement.
The Devils were second at 138 percent.
The Rangers were fourth at 124 percent.
Versus also has shown significant gains for its national games.
People are starting to see the hockey light!

Neal, interesting sports media story, McNabb issued a flat denial of the Pam Oliver sideline report this weekend. PO came back at him like TO, standing her ground 100%.

One link covering the story, I cannot imagine it does not blow up in the next couple days. His Philly tenure is a constant topic, he ensured it stays that way until the Eagles have taken their last snap of the season. Oliver seems to have a solid relationship with him as far as i can tell.
Neil, what kind of gains as far as Versus goes? Any definite figures on that?
Good question, Steve, my hockey confrere. Versus is up from 0.2 to 0.3, and up from an average of 155,432 households to 186,029.
because tractor pulls have been in reruns. that is why ratings are better.

I can't believe that anyone watches hockey. I would rather watch a test-pattern. It's pretty exciting to watch in person, but hockey on TV is deadly.
compared to the other sports, hockey has the most action. wasn't there a study that said there's only 13 minutes of actually "play" going on during a football game?

You obviously haven't seen it in HDTV.
Hockey is like Imus...you either get it or you don't.
If I can't say anything about Imus then you can't say anything about hockey :)
