Good luck and good-bye (sort of), Mr. Imus
Good morning, Imus people. And farewell!
WatchDog launched three weeks after CBS Radio fired Don Imus, and the saga of what WFAN would do to replace him and where Imus would land greatly helped the blog build an audience.
Thanks to all the Imus supporters (and detractors) who participated, and enjoy the new show if you are so inclined.
At about 5:55 a.m. Curtis Sliwa, Imus' predecessor in WABC's morning drive time slot, welcomed him to the station and criticized him at the same time. Game on!
My final duty is to report that Mr. Imus' new sports update man is Tony Powell, a black comedian out of East New York and the University of Virginia. (I wrote over the weekend that Imus was hiring a young black comedian with whom most readers would be unfamiliar.)
Will I listen some of the time? Sure, why not? Right now Boomer and Carton are breaking down the scoring mathematics of the final minutes of the Giants-Bears game, as they must. And Mike and Mike are talking BCS, as they must.
Too much of that kind of thing can turn a man's brain into oatmeal.
So, for better and/or worse, what the heck: Welcome back, Mr. Imus.
(Update: I listened to Powell's first sports update. Mike Breen he ain't.)

How about a plug for the Rutgers women's basketball team, too?
The Scarlet Knights play Maryland today: 7 p.m. on ESPN2.

I can't figure out still why their identiries had to be kept a secret? IF Carith is there to run interference well god bless her and good luck with that Carith. I thought Tony was funny, what if he turns out to be bigger controversy then Bernie, huh, then what, there is no pleasing everyone, sometimes there is no pleasing anyone. I hope the show goes back to normal before the end of the week...it was a little like watching someone walk on eggshells, if you watched or listened to the old show.
Dont care much for College Basketball, but I do care for Don Imus and this country and the need for the media keep stepping on politicians toes.
Look forward to the Cardinal and Mayor Nagin making reappearances.
FYI The WABC signal is much weaker than WFAN
Whew. Imus posts are done! YES! Marble mouth was back today. Yawwwwwn.
I liked "Dick Cheney is still a war criminal and Hilary Clinton is still Satan." A truer truth has never been spoken. Welcome back Mr. Imus!
How about an over/under as to when Imus will 'mis-speak' again? I also find it offensive that he deliberately hires two new black cast members, but retains Bernie who started the whole controversy with his racist talk.
Go back to the ranch, Imus - it's over.
thanks neil. I always appreciated your scoops on the I-man. goodbye and good luck.
An injustice has been rectified.
While Imus is usually a jerk, a complainer, an egomaniac, many times boring, a person who wants all of us to know and be aware that he talks to the "famous", with Bernard McGirk, who is funny, but he may be the real racist here, and Charles McCord, who needs extra tissues to wipe the brown off his lips is useless.
But the humiliation and the firing was more than enough punishment. Humiliation and a suspension should have been the verdict.
Maybe Sharpton and Jackson will become fairer now and realize there really is just one race...human.
Take care Neil,
I miss talking to you.

Yea.That's just great Annie.
That you are wrong is only overshadowed by your unqualified judicial pomp. I'll bet you consider yourself a flexible, progressive liberal. Know how I can tell? From your rigidity; your easily offended fragility; your own disguised racism. It's all right there in your comment.
And usually it is those "qualities" which make up those who scream loudest at others who are "responsible" for putting those feelings there right in your own head. Right there in your own heart. Those troublesome feelings you've got. Imus - and Bernie - put them there.
Don't let you, or us, forget it.
Be looking for the next scapegoat, Annie - it's not over.
Elliott K.: What do you mean you miss talking to me? You haven't talked to me on a regular basis since the spring of 1974!
the show was lame, Imus has lost his touch.
Wow, is it good to have Imus off the FAN and to a radio station that I will never listen too.
Good riddance Imus! The guy is unlistenable
Imus was brilliant!
Life is back to normal! We have our grumpy cowboy friend back where he belongs. He has not missed a beat. I can't wait to watch every minute of him getting even and no matter what one might thing he will.
Russ Limbaugh promos on the Imus show. Didn't he used to call fat russ a drug addict and more? Guess imus has bitten his lip and become a team player.
