ESPN ombudsman is back at it on Taylor, Miles stories

herbstreit.JPGESPN ombudsman (ombudswoman?) Le Anne Schreiber is at it again with another insightful column, in which she calls out ESPN Radio's Colin Cowherd for his embarrassing take on Sean Taylor's murder as well as the Les Miles-to-Michigan debacle on ESPN.

Here's one thing about the latter that she didn't mention, presumably because she doesn't know about it:

The day ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit incorrectly reported Miles' departure from LSU, information from ESPN staffers that contradicted Herbstreit's story initially did not make it onto the network, presumably because producers trusted the story enough to stick with it despite evidence to the contrary.

Miles is still talking to Michigan, according to ESPN.

I think Ombudswoman (judging by her picture) is the german term for "lady who sings when sporting events get out of hand".

I understand the purpose of an ombudsman, having worked in journalism before, but in this case, I don't see the need for ESPN to even have one, considering it doesn't use any of the criticism to its benefit.

I agree Tom. The column seems to be a place for ESPN to justify its actions instead of an invitation to improve on the negative.

All it does is attract the haters for a day or two as it gives them some justification for their displeasure. It just never goes anywhere and ESPN ends up with more page hits than they would of had without her,

you go girl!
